About
Welcome to the culinary heart of Yogyakarta, where tradition meets tantalizing flavors at Gudeg Yu Djum Pusat. Located at Jl. Kaliurang Km. 4,5 in Sleman, this iconic eatery has earned its reputation as a must-visit destination for anyone craving authentic Gudeg.
Gudeg, a beloved Javanese dish, is a symphony of flavors with its main ingredient, young jackfruit, slow-cooked in coconut milk and spices, creating a tender, sweet, and fragrant delicacy. At Gudeg Yu Djum Pusat, each serving is artfully accompanied by an array of delectable side dishes: think succulent free-range chicken, spicy krecek (crispy beef skin), perfectly cooked eggs, and a medley of tofu and tempeh. This wonderful combination transports you directly to the essence of Yogyakarta on a plate.
As you step into the central branch of Gudeg Yu Djum, the ambiance evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of traditional Javanese homes. Customers frequently rave about the cozy yet charming setting, despite its narrow streets and limited parking space. The flavors, however, are anything but confined. Diners describe the Gudeg as lovingly prepared, with just the right balance of sweetness, complemented by the appealing textures of the dishes.
Reviewers like Arnoldus Bluefino highlight the tender jackfruit and the savory krecek that adds a delightful crunch to your meal. Meanwhile, Mochammad Firdaus emphasizes the unique characteristics of the Gudeg here compared to other regions, noting its thicker texture and dry sweetness that set it apart. Donna Arifin mentions that while the Gudeg and sides shine, the rice could benefit from a bit more attention. Nonetheless, the overall experience remains overwhelmingly positive, earning this establishment the esteemed title of one of Yogyakarta's best culinary hotspots.
Whether you're a local or a traveler, visiting Gudeg Yu Djum Pusat is more than just a meal; it’s an immersion into the rich culinary heritage of Yogyakarta. So, don’t just take our word for it—make your way to this hidden gem and indulge in a dining experience that is nothing short of extraordinary!

“ for sure it's a must try food when you come to Jogja. Especially for you who want to enjoy an authentic Jogja traditional food. you'll find an atmosphere of Jogja in the past by your sense of taste. in my opinion, the texture of the gudeg more dry, sweet but thick. it's a kind of different the appearance and taste of the gudeg that i usually find in the other area particularly in Jakarta. For additional, you can add the topping from other menu such a chicken liver, the gizzard and fish crackers as you like. And don't forget to mix all the food on your plate at once. ”
“ This gudeg is already very well known because it is the most recommended place to eat gudeg in Yogyakarta, the taste is really great, the krecek is delicious, the tofu and tempeh are delicious, the eggs are delicious and the most favorite is the free-range chicken because the meat is really tender. The location is also in the city center and near the UGM campus area so it is easy to access. It's just that the place is quite hidden so you have to pay attention to the directions. Parking locations are quite limited because it is in a residential area, so you have to come early in the morning, especially if you bring a car. If you go to Yogya, you must try the gudeg here ”
“ Legendary gudeg in Yogyakarta, one of well known gudeg place. Located in small road (only for one car), better take a minute walk to get in and park your car roadside. Tbh not my fav gudeg (because it too sweet for me) but still can be enjoyed. They have authentic recipe for gudeg and krecek. They used ayam kampung for their chicken, that's why the chicken is pricey. But it worth to try!! It was the region specialities food. You can also take away with various packaging. Besek (bamboo package), kendil (clay package), and vacuum package. Besek amd kendil add some authenticity to the dishes, but choose vacuum for longer expired time. Recomended!! ”
“ We want to taste true Yogyakarta as welcoming lunch. We thought of top of mind food which is Gudeg and also top of mind resturant brand which is Gudeg Yu Djum For those not familiar with what is Gudeg - do a lil research online. My intrepertation of nasi gudeg is type of dish you will find in every city in Indonesia with different style of side dish but with rice as the main ingridients. Nasi Gudeg is optionally serve with these sides chicken, egg, tempe, jackfruit, spicy skin crackers and others There is few location of Yu Djum restaurant in the city. We go to the central ones acxording to people it tasted better there. So we go I enjoyed it. Every side dish tasted so good individually and together. Its fresh and intresting flavoured. Its a midly spicy which is nice. Dont forget to add the white crackers onto the equation. Super yummy It was the rice I think i'm the least happy - as the main dish I think its need more attention of quality and cooking techniques Overall I think they deserved the raving they've gotten. It is so good and its really is Yogyakarta in a plate ”
“ Delicious and good staff service who allowes us to sample before we packed to takeaway. No regrets. This place is must have for gudeg. ”
“ This brand has been a famous brand for Gudeg from Yogya. And the taste is just right for my palate. Not so sweet. The price at the premium side, but it worth. They have many branch in Yogya, but we choose this place as the central branch. The place is like traditional home, with very narrow street, limited parking space. ”
“ Gudeg Yu Djum truly lives up to its legendary status! The gudeg has just the right sweetness, the young jackfruit is tender, and the krecek (crispy beef skin) is spicy and savory. It's always my top choice when visiting Jogja. A must-try! ”
